The Student Experience

The Conference offers events and activities specifically for students.

Education

Four Student-specific sessions will be offered on Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26

Stay tuned for details on these sessions!

Additionally, students are encouraged to attend the Opening Business Session, daily General Sessions, and Closing Business Sessions, and any concurrent education sessions when their schedule allows.

Student Networking Event

Friday, February 24, 6:00–8:00 p.m.

This social event is designed to give students the chance to network with each other at the start of their Conference experience. Florida Golf Coast University, Florida State University, and the University of Central Florida Student Chapters have been selected as this year’s student chapter hosts for the event and will welcome all students and facilitate the planned icebreaker.

Student Achievement Lunch

Saturday, February 25, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Esteemed leaders of CMAA and members of the National Staff will join students at this achievement lunch. Chapter and individual achievements will be showcased during the awards presentation. Winners of the Joe Perdue Scholarship recipients and 2021-2022 New Member Recruitment Contest will be recognized.

Student/Mentor Lunch

Sunday, February 26, 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sit down with managers working in clubs and other mentors to pick their brains about what steps lie ahead for students on their journey through the industry.

Career Opportunities & Networking Showcase

Sunday, February 26, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

This job fair and networking forum is the place where students and managers can gather to discuss employment and internship opportunities as well as network and discuss goals regarding students’ future in the club industry.

Student Shark Tank Student Session

The Student Shark Tank Competition is for any student member (or a group up to five) that has an innovative mind. Do you have an idea or product that you think the club industry could benefit from? Student Chapter Idea Fair

The Student Chapter Idea Fair is your Chapter's chance to share as many ideas as you’d like across six different categories for a chance to win a $1,000 chapter grant from The Club Foundation. Show off everything your Chapter has done to be successful! Entries are due January 23, 2023.

Student Coaching with Kevin McDonald and Shelley MacDougall

Benefit from on-site Coaching Sessions. Coaching is a highly effective way to learn to make significant changes in attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to help achieve personal and professional goals. Experience group coaching sessions with CMAA Coaches Kevin MacDonald and Shelley MacDougall on February 25 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. or February 26 from 1:00–2:00 p.m. Contact Christina to sign up for one of the sessions! Spaces are reserved on a first come first serve basis.

Mentorship Program

Are you looking to have more one-on-one time with a club management professional? If you answered yes, this program is for you! Mentors and mentees will be paired a few weeks prior to heading to Orlando to get to know one another and come up with a game plan for your time together at Conference. Schedule Royal Cup coffee breaks, a lunch or two, a “field trip” to the Club Business Expo, and/or make suggestions for which education sessions to attend based on interests and learning opportunities… the possibilities are endless!
