Ironwood Country Club, one of California’s premier country clubs, recently announced it will generously sponsor College of the Desert’s Women’s Golf Team, the Roadrunners. The Board of Directors of Ironwood Country Club voted to sponsor the team as a meaningful way of directly giving back to the community. Bob Manion, President of the Ironwood Country Club Board of Directors, explains “The support we have received from our members has been overwhelming. We will be looking at ways to expand our support of the College of the Desert.”

The funds provided through the club’s sponsorship will help offset the costs associated with the team’s annual expenses, such as uniforms, equipment, travel expenses and additional out-of-pocket expenses. “We are very appreciative of the support of Ironwood and are very excited to be affiliated with such a prestigious club. Their generosity is helping us with purchasing equipment and is instrumental to the success of our program,” notes Gary Sabella, Coach of the COD Women’s Golf Team, the Roadrunners.

As a way of thanking the club for this support, the COD team was present at the United Way of the Desert First Annual UWD ROUND FOR IMPACT! Tournament. It was held at the historic South Course at Ironwood Country Club on Monday, December 8th. COD Team members were ‘stationed’ at the par three holes, hitting drives for the participants and acting as judges for the hole-in-one contests. The COD Women’s Golf Team was a welcome addition to the Tournament and much appreciated by Ironwood Country Club members and the United Way of the Desert. Ironwood Country Club looks forward to a long relationship with COD and the Roadrunners.
