THE HISTORY OF ADMIRALS COVE

The Club and Community at Admirals Cove evolved from a vision by developer Ben Frankel (Frankel Enterprises). The community was built around a unique canal system created in the 1960s by John D. McArthur.

In 1986, Frankel Enterprises purchased the Admirals Cove property from The John D. and Catherine T. McArthur Foundation. The property at the time of purchase was vacant and undeveloped. The majority of the canals that exist today were already dug, but extensive maintenance dredging and bulkheading was required.

Development of the property began in the spring of 1986, and the first model homes were completed by the end of that year. The marina, clubhouse, and 18-hole championship East golf course designed by Robert von Hagge opened for play in 1987, and the first residents moved in during that winter season.

The Harbor Master building served as a temporary clubhouse until the Main Clubhouse was completed in 1989. The Golf Village course was built in 1991, and the Golf Village Clubhouse opened in 1993.

In 1999, the management and control of The Club was turned over from the developer to the members in one of the smoothest club transitions in the history of country club communities.

Today there are approximately 900 residents who are proud to call Admirals Cove their home.

PR/Communications Assistant Manager

Brief Job Description

The Club at Admirals Cove is currently seeking a talented, highly motivated, positive, outgoing and energetic PR/Communications Assistant Manager.

Responsible for managing and implementing public relations and media strategies that keep Members informed of all Club activities and events. Builds and maintains media channels in collaboration with all departments and Director of Administration. Writes and edits content for a variety of communication channels.

Candidate Qualifications

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Schedules and writes press materials, maintains The Club website and sends out emails to membership to keep them abreast of new developments relevant to Club operations and events.
  • Writes, organizes and collects material for monthly Club magazine.
  • Maintains consistency in wording, branding and messaging across all communications to ensure The Club is appropriately represented.
  • Manages The Club’s membership database to ensure they are up-to-date and appropriately targeted.
  • Oversees The Club’s media channels to coordinate distribution of news, events and Club stories.
  • Monitors and reports on media coverage. Provides internal coverage reports and re-shares relevant stories to Director of Administration and Communications team.
  • Ensures Club events are documented either by video or photography and oversees shot lists and distribution of images.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

Educational/Misc. Requirements-

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, english or related field.

Experience working in communications/public relations

Must have strong writing and editing experience.

Must have excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.

Strong collaborative skills. Able to work with multiple departments/personalities.

Experience managing and developing content for social media channels.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Must be able to work effectively and professionally with people at all levels.

Must be available to work weekends, holidays and/or evenings as needed.
