Director of Food and Beverage
Brief Job Description
We are currently seeking a full-time Food and Beverage Director to join our team. The successful candidate is expected to bring creativity and excitement to team and help further the club’s reputation for excellence in food and beverage services by overseeing all aspects of the operation. This person shall directly supervise the Dining Room Managers, Director of Catering and Events, Pool Manager, and all FOH service staff.
Key Responsibilities and Leadership Style Attributes:
- Responsible for developing and executing plans to continually improve member and employee satisfaction and to maximize the financial performance
- Lead and motivate the Food and Beverage team to provide the highest standard of personalized and engaged service to members, and ensure that the Club is responding to members' requests, comments and suggestions in a timely manner
- Coordinate closely with the Culinary team on food promotions and menu planning and ensure all information is submitted to marketing on time
- Be an active and dynamic recruiter of team members and someone enthusiastic about building a team and lead them to significant, positive membership interactions and outcomes.
- Have a passion and aptitude for teaching and training. Develop and enhance training programs for all food service personnel, working, as necessary, with the managers directly responsible for those operations.
- Ensure effective and efficient staffing and scheduling for all facilities and functions while balancing financial objectives with member satisfaction goals.
- Take personal ownership of his or her area of responsibility, with special attention to the overall appearance of the operation, and understand the need to be consistently “member ready” in both appearance and service.
- Approve, code and submit invoices for purchases to Accounting in a timely manner
- Conduct physical Wine, Beer and Liquor Inventories on the last day of each month. Post counts accurately on the Inventory spreadsheets and submit Inventories to Accounting no later than the fifth of the following month
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
For consideration, individuals should possess the following personal and professional characteristics:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in the Hospitality/Food Service industry at a highly respected private club
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Has the ability to anticipate the needs of members and staff and quickly react to it
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence change
- A mentoring/nurturing/developing approach to staff and team
- Has a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness
- Conducts business and personal dealings with impeccable ethical and moral standards
- Strategic thinker with strong Marketing and Revenue generating skills
- A strong degree of adaptability and flexibility
- A team player who can work well and interact effectively with many people both inside and outside of The Ledges
- Outstanding oral, written and listening communication skills
- Knowledge of wine is a must
Educational Requirements
Degree in hospitality management and/or college degree along with previous progressive experience in a high end, private club, hotel, resort, or restaurant
