The position of Communications Director shall be responsible for overseeing communications as well as supporting management and office related duties such as;
Website/Communications:
- implement, monitor, and enhance Club’s social media program
- update and maintain both public and private club website
- liaison role with Communications Chair and Committee; i.e. new postings to website, mailings etc.
- implement media response program with GM, Flag Officers and Communications Chair
- maintain protocol for media requests and visits
- update/add events to website and hard copy calendars
- add new members/edits to existing membership listings
- assist members navigating online/change email/password, etc.
- compile and send out weekly On Deck email blasts
- coordinate with AYC newsletter/magazine committee
- oversee and create blast emails as needed
- assist with website reservations
- oversee yearly printed club directory brochure
- maintain AYC graphics & photo files for publication and assure compliance by all parties
- liaison with printers/vendors on various printed promotional material, website/vendor & IT contacts
- write and publish press releases for major regattas and send to press contact list
Office/Administration & Events support:
- provide support to General Manager as needed; i.e. letters, mailings, special projects, etc.
- maintain and order office supplies and club stationary
- field general member questions and provide assistance as needed on daily basis
- delegate work to other individuals as needed on a weekly basis and use select staff members to accomplish necessary tasks for communications and membership departments
- provide support to Sales & Catering Department as needed; i.e. menu cards, club invitations/flyers, website, etc.
- assist with coordination of member club parties/events/holidays
- develop all promotional materials for club events; poster, flyers, and additional graphics/logos.
Membership Committee Support
- new member application support
- upload applications to website, print and mail/email postings
- assemble and mail welcome packets to new members
- add new members to and maintain membership database
Educational Requirements
Degree in English, Communications, Liberal Arts or Graphic Design desirable. 2+ years experience in similar role.
