Nestled between the peaceful Indian River and gorgeous Atlantic Ocean, this unique one-of-a-kind gem is located within the Town of Orchid just north of the charming seaside town of Vero Beach.  Lauded as one of the most visually stunning exclusive barrier island private clubs, Orchid Island is more than just a place, it's a lifestyle.    Situated within a 600 acre gated residential ocean-to-river community, Orchid Island offers a variety of amenities to its members, including an 18 hole championship Arnold Palmer designed golf course, Tennis & Fitness Center with 8 Har-Tru courts, Golf Clubhouse, Beach Clubhouse and Spa. 

Club is open 7 days per week, 12 months per year.

Brief Job Description

  1. Plan and implement strategies to meet club membership goals.
  2. Serve as a member of the Membership Committee working close with chairperson to meet committee goals.  Provide notices, draft agenda, reports and minutes of Membership Committee Meetings.
  3. Maintains an in-depth understanding of the Club’s bylaws, rules and regulations, and easily articulates them to Members when questions or issues arise.
  4. Effectively responds to member comments in accordance with club standards, policies and rules; uses ideas, feedback and suggestions to continuously improve the services provided to members.
  5. Develops and adheres to a departmental budget; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
  6. Personally meet each Club Member to communicate that the Club is operated in the best interests of the membership.
  7. Process requests for membership and assist prospective members through the process.  Assure that established procedures for on-boarding prospective Members and Renters applications are consistently followed.
  8. Conduct tours for prospective Members.
  9. Conduct orientation program for new Members.
  10. Contact Members and/or the holder of the Trust on the Resignation List who will soon be coming up for reimbursement.  Request necessary documents be sent to Membership Department.
  11. Each year in July contact all Invitational Members (first with a written notification followed up with a phone call) to see if they are renewing for the next season.
  12. Process Member resignations.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of all Member information.
  14. Maintain all membership reports, files, club database, and waiting lists.
  15. Ensure all Member guests register at the office and provide guests temporary pass/account number for use during their stay.
  16. Collect Annual Member Proxies or any other membership voting and tally results.
  17. Oversee the production of the annual Club Directory to be distributed to Members and ensure photos of Members are stored electronically.
  18. Coordinate all club public relations efforts – “Overlook” newsletters, news & media events, use of social media and promotional materials.
  19. Coordinates development of social activities and social calendar for the club.
  20. Coordinates and facilitates social events. Ensure photographs are taken of Members.
  21. Conducts annual club survey and tally results.
  22. Provide an annual club comparison as related to dues and initiation fees.
  23. Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, evaluate and oversee productivity of subordinates.
  24. Stays current on the latest industry trends in membership including new technologies.
  25. Performs other related duties and or projects as requested by management.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years private club experience in 2 key areas – membership administration and member enrichment programs/activities to increase & retain membership at the Club.   This motivated, personable professional must possess excellent organizational, verbal & written communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.  The Membership Director must be self-motivated, flexible to a schedule that may include some weekends & evenings, and an ambassador of the high end club community. Familiarity with Jonas Systems and Club Essentials is helpful.  

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years’ work experience preferred.
