Special Club Features

Southern Yacht Club Controller

• Manage the financial operations and human resources functions of the club
• Manage all aspects of club accounting, budgeting, tax and financial matters
• Prepare monthly financial statements, financial analysis, forecasts and interpret statistical and accounting information
• Present monthly financial statements to the Board of Governors, General Manager and Club Finance Committee
• General ledger and sub ledger maintenance and reconciliations
• In conjunction with the General Manager and Committee Chairs, evaluate operating results and make decisions on revenue, costs, budgets and policies of operation to increase profitability.  Monitor budget versus actual results and advises management about variances and their potential causes, recommend corrective actions to help assure that the budgeted goals are achieved
• Work with department heads to understand the financial aspects of their department and help make business decisions
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of tax returns; work with external CPA firm on audit and tax matters
• Cash and treasury management
• Inventory maintenance and management
• Supervise the staffing, scheduling, training and professional development of accounting department members
• Oversee guest matters such as billing, collections, account charges and membership matters
• Human Resources matters such as payroll, benefits, business and employee insurance and office management
• Reports to General Manager
