BMI Sports and Recreation Management

BMI Sports & Recreation Management is a five-day, 40-hour, intensive program designed for managers to explore and lead all aspects of the club’s recreational features and offerings in a comprehensive manner. Like the other BMI programs, this program takes a tangible, hands-on approach to the subject matter.

The program will be held annually in January and hosted at the premier clubs in the Scottsdale, AZ, area. The curriculum will be multifaceted including the management, staffing, liability, and specific concerns for all areas of sport and recreation within a club:

III.                 Aquatic Operations 

IV.                Lawn Games and Special Events 

V.                  Hands on Demonstrations of Lawn Games 

VI.                Developing a Nutrition Program at Your Club 

VII.               Developing a Fitness and Wellness Program that fits Your Club 

VIII.             Fitness – Facility Design 

IX.                 Fitness Programming Mini Show Case: 

a.     Golf Strength and Conditioning 

b.     Tennis Strength and Conditioning 

c.      Aquatics Fitness 


X.                   Tennis and Racquet Sports 

XI.                 Yacht Member Programming 

XII.               Incorporating Wellness into Your Life and Club

Club Visits and Tours to: Arizona Country Club, The Club at DC Ranch, Desert Mountain, Mirabel Golf Club

Managers can attend BMI Golf Management, BMI Sports and Recreation Management or BMI Food and Beverage Management to meet the elective requirement in order to sit for the CCM Exam. There is a final project for the program that is required so managers should not make flights out of Phoenix until after 3:00 PM to ensure all programming is met. 

Dress: Dress for the week is Casual and Fitness attire as many of the programming is participatory.

Housing and Travel Arrangements:

CMAA has secured a block of rooms at a reduced rate at the hotels listed below for each of the individual programs.

Blocks are held by the hotels until approximately six weeks prior to the start of a program. All lodging reservations, guarantees and payments are the responsibility of the individual attending the program. 

For all lodging arrangements, please specify that you are with the CMAA/Name of Respective University/BMI room block. Not all housing is within walking distance of the campuses. Rental cars may be required at some locations. Individual hotel cancellation provisions apply.
