Passing of CMAA’s Director of Finance, Michael Mensah

Our CMAA National Headquarters regrets to announce the passing of CMAA’s Director of Finance, Michael Mensah, on April 20. Michael was a valuable member of the Finance/Accounting Department for 26 years. He valued collaboration with his colleagues and was a great team player.

Michael joined CMAA in 1996 as the Manager of Accounting and oversaw The Club Foundation accounting, payroll and employee benefits, and worked directly with the CFO in preparing financial projections and related management reports. Prior to joining CMAA, he had a diverse background that included experience in retail, taxes, and not for profit organizations. Michael held a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the City University of New York, Lehman College.

In an interview with Club Management magazine in summer of 2021, Michael shared the best piece of advice he had ever been given: “Do not compare your life to others; we all shine when it is time.” Michael shone at CMAA and our team was brighter for it.

Outside of his professional achievements, Michael was a family man, the father of four, and loved soccer, fishing, and traveling. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Millie, and entire family.
