The Club Foundation Supports Our Industry
Each year, The Club Foundation gives scholarships and grants to managers, students, faculty, Chapters, and the Club Industry. These awards are possible because of the more than 2,942 individuals, companies, clubs, and Chapters who donate each year to make the future of our industry a priority.
We have seen contributions grow over the last few years, not only the number of individual donors but the total number of donations over the course of the fiscal year. This is a remarkable endorsement of the value of the work that The Club Foundation does each year, serving as a strong resource for members across the nation.
The Foundation’s giving portfolio includes multiple signature scholarships. Scholarship season begins next month and here are the key deadlines for your reference and information:
- Joe Perdue Scholarship—for undergraduate tuition: June 1
- Student Chapter Grant Program—for Student Chapter travel to World Conference: June 1
- Faculty Research Grants—for university faculty: August 1
- Sally Burns Rambo Scholarship—for female club professionals: September 1
- James B. Singerling Scholarship—for first-time World Conference attendees: October 1
- Willmore H. Kendall Scholarship—for emerging professionals seeking their Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation: November 1
- LaRocca Family Executive Scholarship—for mentor-mentee teams: November 1
More detailed information is available on The Club Foundation’s website.
Each year, The Club Foundation also funds Chapter awards including the Idea Fair, Chapter of the Year, and the New Member Recruitment Contest. Winning Chapters for 2023 have been sent their award funds and we look forward to hearing about all the great educational activities that result from those awards.
To raise the funds needed to support programming, The Club Foundation asks for donations throughout the year. There are several ways to support scholarships and grants. Together with all those who donate throughout the year, you are making a difference in the lives of others and in the future of our industry.
- Make an online donation or mail a check.
- Make a stock/securities donation.
- Add a contribution to your membership renewal.
- Make a pledge to donate over time or make an online recurring donation.
- Include The Club Foundation in your estate planning.
However you choose to donate, your contribution is critical to The Foundation’s ability to fuel the future of our members through scholarships and grants. It is our goal to fund the professional aspirations of students and professionals in our industry.

Participate in Year Two of the Club Employee Demographic Assessment
CMAA designed the Club Employee Demographic Assessment (CEDA) to help evaluate the degree to which your club follows leading practices in diversity and inclusion throughout your workforce. CEDA represents a comprehensive and confidential tool for clubs to assess and benchmark themselves against other clubs. The Club Foundation and CMAA have collaborated on a survey that will provide valuable information in year two of a journey toward understanding the demographics related to private club employees. This survey takes about 10-15 minutes and only needs one submission per club.
To encourage participation, we are offering a $100 Amazon gift card to 10 clubs that complete our survey by May 24. These 10 clubs will be selected randomly after the deadline and the gift cards will be delivered via email. To be eligible for the gift card drawing, your club must complete all the necessary sections. If selected, your club will be emailed the $100 Amazon eGift card code that can be used towards your staff.
Diversity in the workplace means employing people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and education levels. Through the four components of CEDA (Workplace, Workforce, Marketplace, Supplier & Community), we hope to help each club identify their own areas of improvement, build, and update practices, and implement positive changes in their day-to-day operations.
