Most Transferable Idea Winner

Connecticut Chapter

Entry Details

Our education committee includes six committed CMAACT members who each bring a particular interest or knowledge base to the committee. The committee comprises general managers, assistant general managers, chefs, and a controller, each bringing a unique perspective and skill set to the group. This diverse expertise has been instrumental in creating a collaborative environment where everyone's contributions have resulted in a highly successful educational year. This fusion of club professionals has contributed to our chapter's regional recognition for offering inventive and diverse educational topics at varied locations.

Implementation

Yes, there are many moving pieces to hosting events at off-site locations and, at times, multiple venues. This year, we implemented a series of internal communication tools to streamline the process.

  1. Each education planning begins with virtual meetings. We first meet with the speaker(s), then together or separately, we also meet virtually with the venue/club. The education chairperson, co-chairs, and the Managing Director are also in attendance.
  2. We have created an Education planning form that records registration information, AV needs, agreed-upon costs, credits, the day's schedule, and other pertinent information.
  3. Lastly, education chairperson Jeff Raider, CCM, prepares a Run of Show for each education. This assists us in presenting a professional education session, but most importantly, it is highly appreciated by the host venue and the speaker(s).

Our education attendance has been consistently strong, even during the summer months. Members have noticed a greater variety of education, where they can depend on meeting their competencies for seekers of the CCM designation.
