  • The involvement of DeAndros J. Long, Jr. (DJ) and Dominic Royal, both passionate and talented students from Cal Poly Pomona, during the TGSC Spring Conference (May 19-21, 2024), greatly enhanced our chapter.
  • Their enthusiastic participation and exceptional contributions significantly boosted the event's success.
  • DJ and Dominic handled various responsibilities, including: 
    • Unpacking and setting up logistics
    • Registration management
    • Ensured proper food and beverage stations set up against BEOs (banquet event orders)
  • Their friendly and approachable demeanors resonated with attendees and fellow volunteers, fostering a welcoming atmosphere and elevating the attendee experience. 
  • Their involvement was mutually beneficial, providing them with valuable experience while easing the organizing team’s workload, resulting in an exceptional experience for attendees.
  • DJ and Dominic’s dedication and positive energy aligned perfectly with TGSC’s values, embodying the chapter’s spirit.
  • Their contributions have left a lasting impression, and we look forward to their continued growth within our community.
  • Reflecting on the conference’s success, DJ and Dominic’s efforts were deeply appreciated. They showcased the excellence of Cal Poly Pomona students and set a solid example for future student involvement.

Implementation

  • The idea was easily implemented after conversations with the Cal Poly Chapter President.
  • Both students volunteered during the TGSC Spring Conference, assisting with:
    • Pre-conference setup
    • Two and a half days of the conference
    • Post-conference cleanup and debrief
  • They supported TGSC’s Managing Director, and her team throughout the event.
  • The general reaction from TGSC members has been highly positive, with DJ and Dominic’s contributions praised for enhancing the event’s success, attendee experience, and overall sense of community.
