Innovative Educational Series: Blending Virtual and In-Person Learning
Wisconsin Badger Chapter & Greater Chicago Chapters
Entry Details
Our chapters have implemented a innovative approach to professional development by creating educational series that combine virtual sessions with culminating in-person events. This blended learning model offers a comprehensive and flexible approach to education, catering to the diverse needs of our members. Each series typically consists of multiple virtual sessions followed by an in-depth, hands-on in-person session. This format allows for extended learning periods, deeper engagement with topics, and the opportunity to apply knowledge in a practical setting. This idea has enhanced our chapter in several ways: Increased accessibility: Virtual sessions allow members to participate regardless of location or schedule constraints. Deeper learning: Extended series format enables more comprehensive coverage of topics. Networking opportunities: In-person sessions foster face-to-face interactions and relationship building. Diverse topics: We've been able to offer a wide range of subjects, from financial management to mental health and well-being. Expert engagement: We've brought in industry experts for specialized topics, enhancing the quality of education. Practical application: In-person sessions provide hands-on experience and immediate feedback.
Implementation
We partnered with industry experts and organizations to develop series on various topics. For example, we collaborated with Club Benchmarking for a Financial Bootcamp, Shanna Bright for Club Communications, and Dr. Karlie Intlekofer for Movement for Mental Health. We utilized virtual platforms for online sessions and arranged suitable venues for in-person events. We promoted these series through our chapter communications channels, emphasizing the unique blended learning approach. Registration was managed through our chapter website, with reminders and materials distributed electronically. General Reaction: The reaction from chapter members has been overwhelmingly positive. Members appreciate the flexibility of the virtual sessions, allowing them to participate without significant disruption to their work schedules. The in-depth nature of the series format has been praised for providing a more comprehensive understanding of complex topics. Many members have reported that the culminating in-person sessions are particularly valuable, offering opportunities for networking, hands-on learning, and immediate application of knowledge. The variety of topics has also been well-received, with members noting that the series covers crucial areas of club management that are not always addressed in traditional professional development settings. The Financial Bootcamp and Club Communications series have been especially popular, with members highlighting the practical skills gained from these programs. The Mental Health and Well-Being series has also received positive feedback, with members appreciating the focus on both personal and organizational wellness. Overall, this blended learning approach has reinvigorated our chapter's educational offerings, increasing engagement and participation rates. Members have expressed enthusiasm for future series and have suggested additional topics they'd like to see covered. The success of this initiative has positioned our chapters as a leader in innovative professional development within the club management industry.
