Special Club Features
Dataw Island has two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Arthur Hills. Few private country club communities can boast of such an ideal location and two championship golf courses. Dataw Island is designated an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International. Dataw Island Club has a very active golf membership and over 47,000 rounds are played per year. There are approximately 900 club members. The majority of the membership is retired. The elegant 40,000 square foot clubhouse contains formal and informal dining areas and a golf pro shop. Additional facilities include practice facility and putting green, 8 Har-Tru Tennis Courts, tennis pro shop, snack facility, swimming pool, 2 croquet courts and miles of leisure trails. The freestanding 16,000 square foot Community Center offers a state-of-the-art fitness and activity center with an indoor pool and spa, fitness room, aerobic studio, conference room, massage facilities and arts and crafts studio. The sports facilities have full-time professionals in place.

Manager in Training Externship - 18 months to Management!
The Dataw Island Manager in Training (MIT) program is an 18-month on-the-job training program that includes a series of modules on topics related to competencies required to be successful in the Club management field. This program will expose the candidate to all areas of operations with a concentration on various elements of Club operations and management. Working with key staff members, the MIT candidates will gain an understanding of Club operations through hands-on involvement, special projects, ongoing education, and participation in Club operations with cross-departmental exposure. At the end of the 18 months, each successful MIT candidate will be offered a management position at Dataw Island, a letter of recommendation, and assistance with job placement, should a suitable position not be available or should the candidate choose to relocate.
Candidate Qualifications
The MIT is designed for recent hospitality graduates seeking to advance their careers through an educational opportunity in a Club management training environment. Successful candidates will have an interest and willingness to learn, a hands-on “can do” attitude, and be comfortable as team members as well as in management roles.
