A Piece of the Pie: Membership Development Incentive Program

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

To further engage our Membership Development Committee (MDC), we developed an MDC Pie. Each time a prospective member is elected that the MDC member has been working on, a slice of pie with their picture is added. The goal is for the entire pie to be filled by the end of the year, with each MDC member contributing at least one slice. As a reward for contributing a slice to the piece, the MDC member is given a bottle of champagne.

Keeping the Membership Development Committee engaged is an important part of our outside election initiatives. The MDC Pie is a simple, fun way to do this. We have found that the visual of the slice of pie with the MDC member photo is a motivating factor – no one wants to be missing from the pie!

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The MDC continues to be a critical partner in exceeding budgeted goals for outside elections, which in turn keeps the Club’s financial health strong. Depending on the year, the MDC can contribute to up to 50% of outside elections, resulting in over a million dollars in initiation fee revenue.
