Activity and Sport Programming Guide
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Activity and Sport Programming Guide is produced three times a year, and outlines all the programs being offered at the Club, providing dates, times and costs.
This important planning communication is traditionally mailed to Members’ homes along with the Granite News Member magazine but with the Club closed for so much of 2020, production of the Granite News was suspended for much of the year.
We also knew that programming information could change on a moment’s notice as we worked to comply with Public Health orders to protect our Club community and the larger community in which we operate. We decided to create an online, interactive pdf that Members could browse. This way, we could update and change information as needed as we navigated the changing restrictions, and continually provide a Guide that was relevant and up-to-date.
How was this idea implemented and what have been the club members' reactions?
The online Guide was well received by Members, and the Sports Desk saw registration levels consistent with previous years. Our internal Athletics partners were pleased, too. They now had a solution that provided flexibility.
Now that we have piloted an online version, it’s unlikely we will move back to traditional print for this piece. The flexibility an online activity guide gives us is something we won’t want to give up as Club operations return to normal.
Fiscally, a significant expense was saved by not printing and mailing this piece, and in a time of significantly reduced revenue, creating an online solution was the responsible thing to do.
