Idea Fair
Adapting & Thriving During a Pandemic
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
2020 was a year of uncertainty. Amidst a global pandemic, businesses and Clubs around the country were challenged to develop new strategies and learn to adapt to an ever-changing world. To continue operating, Clubs had to think outside the box to offer safety-focused food & beverage offerings, outdoor recreational activities, and enhanced digital media and communication.
We implemented a Chef's pantry for members to purchase groceries from, enhanced our to-go offerings, added weekly to-go specials, and created videos showcasing each department we sent out each week. The videos included cocktail tutorials, fitness classes, tips from the Pro and Golf Course Superintendant, messages from our staff, updates from the Club, and sales in the Pro Shop.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The videos were produced in house by each department. The staff worked together to film and act in these videos. Chef worked with the Clubhouse Manager to provide weekly "Hot & Ready" meals and Chef's "Take & Bake" meals. Everything was extremely popular with our members, and I am sure we will continue to do these once the pandemic ends. It gives members more options while allowing us to serve them in their home or at the Club.
