Idea Fair
American Gladiators
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Our kids’ club is a weekly event that occurs, starting Memorial Day and going through Labor Day. For $5, parents can drop off their kids for the evening and we will supply one-of-a-kind games for young and old kids alike. Everybody remembers American Gladiator! For one of our events, we recreated the American Gladiator Assault Course. Using our tennis ball machine, inflatables and nerf guns; we recreated a historic and exhilarating classic. The ball machine could be turned up to a staggering 80 mph, making it quite an intense game. A weapon located at each station, the goal was to get the weapon and aim for the targets above the gladiator. This game was an absolute hit with the kids, very intimidating at first, but once you get going it’s such a rush!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Additionally, the kids love playing kickball, but to spice it up, we added the slip-n-slide element. We put pools at the end of each slip-n-slide, placed normally where a base would be located. Just like in regular kickball, the kids kick the ball and run for the base… Then they dive and slide into each pool! The rules follow just like normal kick ball rules.
Other than the slip-n-slide tarps we purchased from Home Depot and small wading pools from Walmart; we implemented these ideas with a lot of items we just had laying around Champions Run. Our goal is to try and offer unique, one-of-a-kind events at the club, and we can’t think of any other club that has these fun games. We’ve had many jealous adults asking if we can do an adult version of both American Gladiator and Slip-n-Slide Kickball! Both games are an amazing, unique and fun activity that we love to host at Champions Run!
