Idea Fair
April Fools Pirate Takeover
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
As a fun way to celebrate April Fool’s Day, the Pirates of Tillinghast captured our Five Farms clubhouse. The day started off with our members receiving an email campaign from Captain Tilly himself detailing the takeover. The entire campus was decorated for the takeover from pirate flags on the golf course and at the front of clubhouse to treasure maps and loot bags inside the clubhouse.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
In À la Carte dining, all of our menus were pirate themed! We had a pirate boat display with blue oysters and shrimp, offered BCC Rum Punch and Lil’ Pirates Punch as our specialty cocktail and mocktail, and handed out pirate cookies. Members could interact with our pirate character, participate in our Walk the Plank photo op, and even pick their pirate name. Staff members got in on the fun by dressing in costume. On social media, we changed Facebook cover photo, posted Instagram and Facebook stories and feed posts of what was happening at the Club, and created a TikTok video. Overall, the members responded positively to this event especially to our staff members’ participation!
