Author Series

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Army Navy Country Club started its Author Series in 2012 and has hosted over 40 authors. A typical event take place on a Wednesday evening and begins with cocktails and refreshments at 6:30pm followed by the Author’s talk, Q&A session and book signing. Authors have covered a wide variety of topics including memoirs, fictional novels, historical biographies, travel and cook books and children’s stories.

Depending upon the topic, Author Series events have drawn as many as 300 people and the Series is very popular amongst members of the club.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

An Author Series event is promoted to members through the Club’s monthly newsletter, website and email blasts. Members are asked to register for the event through the Club’s website. Since inception the Author Series has covered a wide range of book topics that have appealed to many different club member demographics. Some authors have been members of the Club while others have not. Club members anticipate upcoming events and have been very supportive of the Series.
