Idea Fair

BCC Peach Seltzer

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

At our Five Farms campus, our skilled Horticulture Team cultivates a variety of fruits and vegetables, supplying fresh ingredients to our Culinary and Food & Beverage Teams. Members delight in enjoying these farm-to-table offerings while dining at the Club. In 2021, we launched our BCC IPA, available on tap and in cans, which quickly became a member favorite. Recognizing the growing popularity of hard seltzers both nationally and at the Club, we introduced a 12-ounce hard seltzer crafted with peaches harvested from the orchards near Hole 3 on the East Course.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

In summer 2024, our Horticulture Team harvested Desiree peaches in mid-June and Salish Summer peaches in mid-July from the orchard to be used in the seltzer. Our Director of Horticulture made two separate trips to personally deliver the harvested peaches to 1623 Brewing Company who had brewed and canned the BCC IPA, to do the same for the BCC Seltzer. The additional peaches used in the seltzer included those sourced from Baugher Orchards & Farm in Westminster, MD. Our Communications Team designed the seltzer can, incorporating the barn from Hole 6 on the East Course. The design also featured a bee holding a watering can, its hair styled in a low ponytail braid, inspired by our Director of Horticulture.

In early August, the 1623 Brewing Fermentologist brought samples of the seltzer to BCC for our team to evaluate the taste of the beverage and the can design. We notified 1623 Brewing that the seltzer needed a stronger peach flavor and extra carbonation. A few weeks later, when the BCC Seltzer was ready for canning, our Assistant General Manager, Director of Horticulture, and Digital Content Coordinator visited 1623 Brewing to observe the canning process and pick up the pallets.

Subsequently, members were able to order the BCC Seltzer from the cocktail menus at both locations and purchase it from our East Course and West Course Refreshment Stands. To celebrate the release, we shared a video on our social media pages showcasing the process from orchard to can. The BCC Seltzer has been popular.
