Idea Fair
Behind the Fence
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Behind the Fence is an RCC publication that provides monthly updates on our clubhouse renovation. Members receive a new issue of BTF on the 1st of each month, recapping progress on our project and providing important updates on the next phases of construction. We share progress and updates in three main project categories: Exteriors, Interiors, and Mechanicals while including a multitude of footage throughout the month. The goal of the newsletter is to give members an inside look at the day-to-day construction progress as we execute each phase of the renovation. The publication is also accompanied by a video production each month hosted by our Director of Grounds and Facilities as well as the member who leads the Project Oversight Committee. We are thrilled that in only 7 issues of BTF, we have generated an average of 82.2% open rate which is slightly higher than our average open rate with our weekly membership email blast.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Members are extremely grateful and complimentary of the implementation of Behind the Fence. As contributors to the renovation, members often have a lot of questions as well as frustrations due to disruptions or lack of updates. Behind the Fence works to combat both of those issues which the membership has been incredibly responsive to. A large portion of the newsletter is focusing on informing them of any upcoming changes or logistical considerations that may affect them as a member. This inclusion has helped maintain a positive attitude and excitement from members towards the renovation. The publication also has it’s own domain under our club website so members can go back and review at any point during the project.
