Idea Fair
Blue Course Walking Tours
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
On a weekly basis, the General Manager and Director of Athletics teamed up with the Superintendent to alternate taking out members and team members 9 holes at a time throughout the week. They averaged about three tours a week and walked with everyone to explain the details of the entire course process, design, and vision that was brought to life by the architect. While some understood the gravity of the project, many learned the intricacies and details associated with such a large scope of change and were excited to be included throughout the process.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The members and team members were extremely grateful to have these experiences throughout the process. Most club (especially as it pertains to golf courses) transformations are completed with a “before” and “after” concept, but the walking tours created an experience of inclusion and transparency throughout the project for everyone to be a part of. Every single week there was buzz and energy around the course tours. The feedback and end result were extremely positive and boosted excitement for both the unveiling of the new course for everyone!
