Brad's Library Dinner Series
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
In a time when people could no longer travel we utilized a private dining room and Culinary talents to bring the world class food and wine to the Club. Our private dining room, which overlooks the kitchen is called the Library, using the Library theme we thought of cookbooks. But not just any cookbooks, the books from the world's best restaurants. Brad's Library Dinner Series is a monthly installment of dining experiences with menus inspired by dishes in the cookbooks of some of the best restaurants. The Dinner Series has enhanced our Club's operations because we have successfully brought true fine dining, exquisite service, and an overall memorable experience to our members.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Front of House and the Chef Brad work closely to create the dinner series. We have discussed books, restaurants, ideas, concepts, and complied ideas to make a dining concept that is the talk of the Club. Chef Brad will pick a specific book or restaurant and make a tasting menu inspired by the book. After the menu is set the front of house creates a menu, designs the table setting, pairs wines, and books the room for the dinners. During the dinner Chef Brad comes into the room and explains why he chose that book, gives a through explanation of the courses, and simply interacts with the members. The Dinner Series was originally planned to take place the second and third Thursdays of every month. However, due to popular demand we have ended up with at least three per month, and on random days of the week. In February we have 5 Library Dinners booked. The members absolutely love the dinner. We have the Library Dinner Series booked for the rest of the year, and we don't even have all the menus planned yet! Former president and loyal Dinner Series guest Mr. Hazelwood said "During this last year of pandemic and quarantine, OKCGCC has presented the membership with an innovative dining option re-creating some of the best restaurants in the world from their cookbooks in the Library Dinner Series. It has provided us outstanding fine dining in a small controlled atmosphere at a chefs table and challenged the culinary staff making for an incredible evening." Another member said "Our Library dinners have been exceptional. I have not had a entrée I did not enjoy. The staff goes above and beyond to provide a safe dining environment during these extremely challenging times. The personal discussions about the courses with the Chefs, and other kitchen crew make it even more interesting and enjoyable." It is safe to say that there is no end in sight for Brad's Library Dinner Series.
