Idea Fair
Branded Event Materials
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
BHYC takes pride in the burgee, which is why they love to put it on everything! This past year, the Club has taken “branding” to a literal level, getting creative with events and dining materials. First, the Club kitchen staff shaped the snack bar menu into a wooden sailboat, with the fire branding of the burgee at the top followed by ‘Bay Head Yacht Club.’
That same burgee was used for wooden menu holders that make an appearance at many of the wine and beer dinners. BHYC didn’t stop at menus, taking it to the bone of a Tomahawk steak served at a special event. You can even find a burgee on the burger buns!
Another very special way BHYC incorporated the brand into the event materials was by recycling and re-purposing old cedar shakes. Instead of throwing them away, they were sanded down, branded and used for menu boards! The Club is now able to re-purpose these menus for events in the future.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
While the staff has fun branding their materials, it allows for a sense of member pride as well. Branding your items is a completely low cost luxury. It makes your event pieces look custom and amazing, with the one time purchase of the branding iron.
Taking the events to the next level and truly personalizing them to the Club, makes members feel like they’re apart of somewhere special. You can find a logo on a leather menu anywhere you go, but how often do you see it on your food? Sometimes, it’s the little things.
