Idea Fair
Bunker Renovation - Drone - Photoshop
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Champions Run recently decided to do a complete bunker renovation using the Better Billy Bunker method and Pro Angle Sand. We brought in the original golf course architect to reshape, redesign, and eliminate some of the course bunkers. Wanting to be able to show the members the changes, we needed visual aids. However, to have visuals made through our architect, was going to be very expensive. So, with a little creativity, we filmed fly overs of all the holes and took freeze frames of the bunkers and then redesigned them in photoshop to show our members visually what the aerial view of the holes look like. The drone’s visuals turned out to provide a unique vision of what the bunkers would look like once renovations were completed.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
We implemented this by flying a drone over each hole on the course. When the drone was over the bunker we would freeze frame it and take a picture. Next, we took that still shot and edited it in photoshop to emulate what the hole would look like after the renovation. We did this for all eighteen holes on the course and compiled a video showing all the changes, which we sent to our membership. Our members were awestruck when they saw the video clip at our membership meeting. The project generated a ton of excitement for the project, and also saved the club a lot of money by doing it in house!
