Idea Fair
Burger Bash on the Beach
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Burger Bash on the Beach is a Bobby Flay Throwdown-Style Competition to Crown the "Best Burger of Tokeneke”. Three club members get paired with a Culinary team member and front of house staff to help execute their vision and recipe to be judged for "Best Burger" by other club members. This event not only exemplifies the values of family, tradition, and fun among member families but allows for comradery between club members and staff as they had the opportunity to plan their burger with a culinary team member, tackle any operational challenges that came about throughout the event, and keep up with the demand for burgers!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
What started as a a seedling of an idea at a meeting with the Entertainment Committee, blossomed into a full-fledged event that the Food & Beverage team ran with. The event was so well received among membership because it offered an immersive environment for every generation that calls the club "Home". Members young and old came together to dance to tunes from a live band, enjoy special beer and cocktail offerings, vote on their favorite burger, and end the night with a bonfire on the beach. Members were calling left and right to reserve their attendance, especially those who were planning to attend to support the members who were competing. In days following the event, there was a great "buzz" throughout the club of members talking about their excitement for the following season's Burger Bash on the Beach and even expressed interest of doing other themed "throw-downs". This event became our second most attended event of the season, next to our Fourth of July Fireworks celebration, at a whopping 600 attendees.
