Idea Fair
Causing a Racquet
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
New to Racquet Sports or want to upgrade your frame? Not sure where to start? We’ve got you!
“Let the racquet do the talking.” – John McEnroe
A racquet demo program is an excellent way of getting a feel for a racquet without risking buying something you don’t like. Online reviews and feedback from other users are undoubtedly useful to narrow down your choices, but hitting with a frame beforehand is far better. Our revamped demo program leaves members feeling confident in their final decision – no strings attached.
Our team updated our current system to help members make the most of their demo racquet experience. While demo racquets are a great idea, it is difficult to know where to start. Whether members are looking for more control, spin, or power, our team carefully curated a collection of frames with new strings and grips to help guide our members to what feels right when they play.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our team sat down with our Racquets Professionals (tennis and squash) for guidance on what strings would complement each racquet.
We separated racquets by weight (3 different groupings) and colored coded them with different electrical colored tape to help not only guide new players to the right racquets, but also help our new staff members familiarize themselves with the racquets quicker.
We restrung and regripped every racquet to the Racquet Professionals recommendations and continue maintenance on each frame quarterly so members have the best demos readily available for use.
The new demo program has been well-received by members and staff alike and member feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Since the program's implementation, racquet sales have also increased by 24%.
