Idea Fair
Certified Master Chef (CMC) Practice Sessions
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Cosmos Club's Executive Chef, Will Rogers, CEC, is in process of preparing to take the Certified Master Chef (CMC) exam. As part of the preparations, practice sessions were set up using fellow managers and employees from all departments to act as a culinary apprentice. This gave Chef the opportunity to work with varying skill levels and put employees in a role in which they have not previously been in. After the four hour session, 6 employees would sit down for family meal from the food that was just prepared, including the Chef and apprentice.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Chef Rogers sent a sign up sheet for employees to participate in the process. The incentive of working with Chef in the kitchen, sharing in the meal and helping Chef prepare for his pending test created a great bond and fostered excitement throughout the team. We captured much of the process through pictures and will share the team building success story with our members in an upcoming Bulletin article.
