Idea Fair
Color-coded Laundered Linen Distribution
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The laundry department implemented a linen-bag color coding system in order to simplify the influx and distribution of linens to and from the Club’s various departments. Dirty laundry is placed in bags and delivered to laundry. Once cleaned, they are returned to bags for delivery to back to the same department.
Prior to the implementation of this idea, bags used for linens were one color. Now, each department has been assigned a color. For example, dirty linens brought to laundry in red bags, which are for the Grill, are easily distinguishable from blue bags, which belong to Fitness. Once the bags and linens are laundered, linens are placed in the same color bag they came in and are returned to the correct department.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Club members may not see the effect directly, but the ready availability of the correct size towel in a locker room or the time reduced by cutting confusion allows the personnel of the department to allocate more time performing other duties required of their jobs.
