Connect New Employees with a Consistent Message
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Due to the current labor market, we have had a higher rate of turnover than usual this past year. Training new employees can be inconsistent and hard to ‘fit’ into the daily routine, especially while our golf operations have been busier than ever.
In an effort to ensure a consistent message is delivered to every new employee, our Head Golf Professional created a series of six videos that he sent to new employees in an email their first week of work. These videos included information regarding daily duties, activities for "down time," a tour of the facility, and general expectations. Employees now have a reference point as they are becoming more comfortable with daily responsibilities.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
These videos delivered the same training message for each new employee and helped to answer questions. With so much information being directed at a new employee, this extra step helped to ensure new employees would be able to provide the level of service expected, and complete daily responsibilities with confidence.
The video series was created with an iPhone during a slower time over the winter, and was formatted so videos could be available to employees through email. The videos are available for employees to review as needed.
