Idea Fair
Cornhole & Corndogs Charity Tournament
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
- This tournament was a great way to bring in potential members and showcase our club.
- The friendly competition built camaraderie and excitement among the membership and community.
- Our club gained exposure through media outlets.
- We had the opportunity to build relationships with local businesses via court sponsorships, local food trucks, and musicians.
- Through our efforts, we were able to raise $3,000 for the Shelby Humane Society, and Biloxi, a shelter dog, found his forever home with an RCC family.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
- Registration: The registration fee was $50 per team of two and included (2) craft beers or drink of choice and (2) corndogs. An early bird registration fee of $40 per team of two was offered up until one week prior to the event. A junior league was also offered. Teams registered through a Google form and were given the opportunity to come up with a creative name for their team.
- Fundraising: In addition to the registration fee, we were able to raise funds through court sponsorships, a 50/50 raffle, and a cornhole airmail challenge.
- Sponsorships: Sponsors were given a custom sign to put on their court, and we’re encouraged to set-up a tent to promote their business. Food and beer were donated by a local businesses, breweries and Frito Lay.
- The Tournament: We partnered with Alabama Cornhole to run the tournament on the club’s driving range. Our food and beverage department provided a buffet and satellite bar near the driving range. We invited a local snow cone and funnel cake truck to provide the desserts. Winners of the tournament received a cash prize and trophy.
- Publicity: The tournament was covered by local news and radio stations in order to publicize the event and increase participation.
