How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Since the creation of our first Culture Book in 2016, our team members have grown to love and anticipate the release of each year’s edition. After announcing the winners of the superlative awards at our All Team Meeting, we give a copy of the book to all 475 team members in attendance. The joy it brings as they look through the book to find their pictures is a feeling second-to-none. Included in the book are items such as team statistics, accomplishments, challenges, memories, holidays, customized superlatives (which are voted on by the entire team), and more. Our Culture Book has enhanced our operation through the way it shows our Team how much they are appreciated – not just because of their tireless hard work and effort but also because of their attitudes, smiles and personalities. The book has created a strong team morale, which in turn has created better performance in hospitality to the membership.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The idea for Congressional Country Club’s Culture Book was sparked in 2016, with the goal of creating something that celebrated our team – our wins, memories and the laughs we shared throughout the year. To create the content of the Culture Book, we have our team get involved by asking them questions with the opportunity to have their answer included in the book. We also include a superlative section, which features 24 Team Members chosen by their fellow teammates because their personalities encompass one of 12 different superlative categories inspired by CCC’s past Members. Throughout the book we include over 200 pictures of the year’s memories, from our annual Team Member party in January to our Team Member Golf Tournament in November and everything in between. The book includes different creative questions, facts and trivia about our team. Last but certainly not least, we highlight those with 5+ years of service – this year we celebrated 83 team members!

The members have caught on to the trend and they now expect their own copy to read and enjoy. Just as much as the team loves learning about each other, the membership now has another resource to get to know our team. A hot topic of conversation once it is released, the members love bringing up different features of the book which lead to strengthening their relationships with the team!
