Idea Fair
DAC Otters
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
In 2017, the Otters water basketball league—commonly known as “basketbrawl”—was born from the Beavers, one of the oldest clubs within the Club at the DAC. The Beavers, with their decades of Thursday games followed by a luncheon featuring a prominent speaker, are more than a part of the Club—they have made Club history.
The DAC Otters constitute a strong and influential group of women who are unafraid of similarly intense competition in the pool.
The Beavers and Otters compete on different weekdays but come together for memorable speaker luncheons from October through March.
One of the Otters was able to invite Lomas Brown, a former Detroit Lion, to enhance the Speaker Series for 2023.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
In 2023, the Club has its largest group of Otters since the league was created. It has provided an opportunity for the women of the DAC to participate in the traditions of the Club and network with other Otters and Beavers who are as passionate as they are about the DAC.
