Launched in 2022, the Ted Gillary Employee Scholarship Program—named in honor of the DAC’s former longtime executive manager—empowers employees and their families by supporting educational advancement. With $273,000 awarded to 63 employees or their immediate family members in just three years, the program exemplifies the DAC’s dedication to investing in its people and their aspirations.

Implementation

• Scholarship Details:
  • Total Awards: $50K in 2022 (14 applicants), $75K in 2023 (21 applicants), $150K in 2024 (32 applicants).
  • Application Process: Open November–January; awards announced in June. Requires an electronic application, essay, recommendations, extracurricular activities, work experience, transcripts, and estimated financial needs.
  • Uses: Funds can be applied to tuition, books, and fees for undergraduate, graduate, or trade/technical school programs.
  • Selection: A 7-member DAC Foundation Scholarship Committee evaluates applicants using a detailed scorecard.

• Signature Events:
  • Gillary Scholars Soirée: Held annually in January, this major fundraiser continues to attract a growing donor base, with the 2024 event drawing more than 230 attendees.
  • Gillary Scholars Garden Party: Hosted each August to celebrate scholarship recipients and their families.
