Idea Fair
December Kids Holiday Programme
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
We know that school holidays are a tough time for working parents, and we wanted to show our support in creating a fun, safe and learning environment for children during the December holidays on the Estate.
We hosted an exciting and jam-packed holiday programme.
Our aim was to create a non-competitive and fun environment, where children could break free from their daily routine by focusing on play, friendships, physical activity, new experiences, and making new memories. The programme included a range of indoor, outdoor, creative, active, and educational activities, such as mindful movement, fun golf activities, a science party, a reptile show, outdoor sports activities, arts and crafts workshops, pizza making and cupcake decorating workshops, and a Christmas Picnic. Lots of fun was had by all the children and we look forward to hosting our next one in April.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
During the planning stages, we decided to partner up with local and small businesses in our community, who were able to provide and offer children with fun and memorable experiences which would keep them engaged, stimulated, encourage creative thinking, and develop new friendships throughout the two weeks. All the activities took place on the Estate which put parents mind at ease knowing that their children are in a safe, fun, and supportive environment, whilst they were at work, running errands or having some much needed “me time” over this time.
We received such a great uptake from our residents and positive feedback after the holiday programme ended.
