Idea Fair
Digester & Club Wide Recycling
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Club at Ibis initiated a Recycling Program and has enabled Ibis to become a 90% recycling facility. The go-green initiatives included a single-stream recycling compactor, a Liquid Food Composter and eliminating Styrofoam cups throughout the club. The Liquid Food Composter, also known as a “digester,” is utilized by staff to deposit pre and post-consumer food waste. The digester works by converting food waste into gray water, which can be safely disposed into the sewer systems, reducing our ecological footprint. It also saves money due to less trash pick-up and reduces the smell and amount of insects that we used to experience.
The Recycling Program initiatives have improved the efficiency of club operations and led to significant cost savings. Additionally, the altruistic benefits of the program have generated tremendous buy-in and support from employees and Members.
