How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

In 2022, we partnered with an E-Waste recycling company who disposes of any appliances or equipment using power or batteries, to help in creating a better, cleaner future for our residents and Estate.

Environmental sustainability is a priority at Atlantic Beach. All elements of the Estate were built with a commitment to the preservation of the indigenous fauna and flora. This has resulted in an abundance of wild animals on and around the Estate, including springbok, tortoises, chameleons, snakes, rooikat, duiker, porcupine, grey mongoose and a large variety of birds including barn owls. The Estate has a rich abundance of fynbos species, and we have an active programme to retain and re-instate this natural resource.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

With electronic waste being the fastest growing waste stream in South Africa , we placed an E-Waste Bin at our main gate. We continue to encourage residents to dispose of their electronic waste responsibly. Recycling and reusing are crucial to preserve our environment and Atlantic Beach has made a commitment to continue to carry out practices' that will help in conserving our mother nature and to help protect the earth. With collection being done on an average of 3 times a month, this shows that our residents fully support the commitment to sustainability.
