Idea Fair
Elite College Level Practice Clinics
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Elite College Level Practice Clinic is a high intensity, academy or college level tennis clinic with more live ball hitting and competition that focuses on fitness and work ethic.
There have been a number of positive impacts on our junior tennis program. Participation in the clinic has grown, providing an added source of revenue as compared to a program where juniors simply “age out” of recreational tennis lesson play. The program provides an opportunity to showcase the Club’s best players and brings “club prestige” as we begin producing college players.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Elite College Level Practice Clinic has motivated our elite junior tennis players to work toward competing in a college tennis program after high school and it has created an awareness of future playing opportunities beyond high school.
The unique structure and focus on a “team” has created a drive and willingness in our junior players to push each other and to maintain a high level of intensity throughout the clinic. Interest in playing beyond high school has also significantly increased.
The opportunity to play tennis at the college level can have a significant impact on kids. By exposing juniors to the types of practices that college players participate in, our young members are able to determine if college tennis is the right path for them.
