Idea Fair
Employee Benefit Fair
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Each year, the Club’s Human Resources department puts on an Employee Benefits & Wellness fair to kick off our open enrollment period. This is a great opportunity for staff to connect with representatives from each of our vendors and make sure they understand everything offered to them as employees of the club.
Companies present in 2023 included our health insurance provider, 401k provider, employee assistance program representatives, a local chiropractor, SweatNET corporate wellness program, a nutritionist, and more. Free flu shots for all employees, regardless of whether they are on our insurance, are also available in a private space with a nurse onsite.
All employees, full-time and part-time, are encouraged to attend. Healthy snacks and juices made by our culinary team were available, and 15-minute chair massages were offered to all interested attendees.
To drive attendance, any employee that visits all 10 vendors is entered into a drawing for raffle prizes. The prizes are provided by our vendors and in 2023 included a Thera gun, smart scale, amazon gift card, and more. A comprehensive employee benefit guide is also given to each attendee, and the Human Resources team is onsite for any additional questions.
Benefits filter into so many aspects of a person's life. Health insurance, 401k, and employee assistance options can feel overwhelming, so the fair was created to provide an informative and approachable space. By increasing our employees' awareness, understanding, and utilization of the benefits offered by the Club, we are allowing them to feel confident in making choices that are best for them with a myriad of resources at their fingertips. Making our employees feel they are taken care of allows them the opportunity to fully focus their energy and attention onto our members and their guests while at work.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The idea for the benefit fair came about when our HR department recognized that employees didn't appear to have much knowledge of common benefit-related items and were underutilizing benefit offerings from the Club. Prior to open enrollment, it was decided to organize a benefit fair, paired with incentives and snacks in order to drive attendance. Multiple employees have since commented on their appreciation for us bringing information to them so that they had opportunity to learn more, and several even commented that they hadn’t realized we offered certain benefits - like our free nutritionist sessions!"
