Idea Fair
Employee Library
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The employee library is an assortment of books available to the team for reading at work or away from work, and has enhanced our employee benefits and morale here at the Club. Employees feel like we are providing them with an outlet to continue development both professionally and personally. The employees have enjoyed seeing new books rotate through the library, and are grateful to have educational books available to use when they need it.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Club recently established an employee recognition committee designed to recognize hard working employees and find new ways to keep the team motivated. The committee created the Employee Library in the Employee break room for everyone to use. Several books purchased by the club are designed to help grow employee knowledge on topics such as personal finance, applying for college, setting goals, buying a first home, etc. These books are labeled with a sticker and we simply as that the employee return it once it is done. Books are in both English and Spanish.
Others are ‘fun’ books, which are designed to be treated in a “take a book, leave a book” manner. The employees are grateful to have these resources available and excited that they can read between shifts or while enjoying lunch, or are able to take it home and read on their own time before returning it. The “take a book, leave a book” concept has also helped us rotate the different books that we have available.
