Idea Fair
Employees Paws for a Cause
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
This program is new to Addison this year and was implemented to provide assistance to an entity in the community that depends upon volunteers and charitable contributions. Passion Project 2019 benefited the Tri County Animal Shelter, a no kill shelter in our community. Staff members were asked to donate items or to make a small cash contribution, if they so chose, to be sent to the animal shelter for the Christmas holiday. Employees were happy to be involved with this program and the holiday merriment was evident in their participation.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
A single collection box was positioned in the Administration office for the contributed items. One box soon increased to two, with items spilling onto the floor and to the storage closets. This effort became a tremendous success with the gathering of food, toys, blankets, bedding and other items, as well as a cash amount of $700. Just prior to Christmas, several employees took a van full of items to the animal shelter. They enjoyed the puppies for a bit and left knowing that dogs and cats alike would have a little something in their stocking on Christmas morning. The members have been very supportive of the efforts of the staff to reach out to the community.
