Energy Incentives for Country Clubs
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Belle Meade Country Club receives financial incentives from Tennessee Valley Authority for efficiency and electrification measures. Investing in emerging electric technologies can reduce your carbon footprint, improve the quality of products and services, increase productivity and improve your bottom line.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Our Club has recently improved our relationships with both Mother Earth and the Finance Department by taking a few easy steps. Lights throughout our Indoor Tennis facility and Clubhouse were converted from florescent bulbs to LED. In addition to saving $2,500/month from this conversion alone, we receive $0.10/KWH used in incentives back from the TVA. We also receive incentives for converting our water source heat pumps (WSHP) from steam to electric which also saves us money on maintenance and labor. Every club and business should investigate these potential incentives with their local energy provider to ensure they are not leaving money on the table. Incentives are also provided for food service equipment (such as electric ovens and low-flow pre-rinse sprayers), non-road electric vehicles (such as golf carts), and miscellaneous equipment (such as window film and guest room energy management controls).
