Executive Development Program
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Club at Ibis’ Executive Development Program provides an opportunity for selected mid-level managers to be paired with 10 members of the Executive Committee for a rotational training and mentor-ship experience. It is designed to invest in high-potential mid-level managers with the objective of enhancing Ibis’ managerial succession plan and preparing these individuals for a future executive-level position in the private club industry.
The Executive Development Program allows the selected mid-level managers to become well-versed in key department operations. In addition to preparing them for a future executive-level role in the private club industry, the participating manager is able to immediately employ the gained knowledge to benefit their department’s operations and the members’ club experience.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Training Manuals: Department specific training objectives were outlined in the Executive Development Training Guide to ensure key points of learning were covered during each month of training.
Coaching: Each month of the program focused on a specific department, whereby the professional was paired with a member of the Executive Committee to act as a mentor during the training month.
Continuing Education: Through training, shadowing, and mentor-ship with department heads, the program enabled the professional to learn on-the-job skills specific to key operations and general club management.
Professional Development: The professional had the opportunity to learn about the key department operations from an executive perspective; giving them valuable experience and knowledge to not only enhance their current skill set but also to prepare them for future career advancement within the club industry.
Staff Recruitment: The Executive Development Program enhanced the club’s internal succession plan, as well as provided the professional with a well-rounded club education and prepared them for a future executive-level position in the private club industry.
