Idea Fair
Farmington Golf Skills Challenge
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
The Farmington Golf staff created the first annual Farmington Skills Challenge as a way to engage, challenge, and entertain members. After developing guidelines and rules of the challenge, the Golf team designed a universal scoring system, layout and 18 different stations. The skills circuit was open to all members, juniors to seniors.
Features included: 18 Stations (15 golf related, 3 non-golf related); teams of 5 players who competed in a variety of challenges; skills challenges such as pitching, putting and chipping; the two best scores at each station counted towards overall team score; 0-3 point scale based on difficulty; marked targets; upbeat music and high spirits; the Farmington Food Truck; a member sign bar.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The Golf team received positive feedback from participating members with several groups requesting to have their own private skills challenge. The event promoted Farmington’s Food Truck and allowed members to utilize Farmington’s new practice facility. Members were impressed with the organization and execution of the event and are anticipating the second annual Farmington Golf Skills Challenge.
