Idea Fair
Father-Son Campout
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Philadelphia Country Club hosts numerous parent-child events throughout the year such as the Mother-Daughter Tea Party and Father-Daughter Dance. After receiving feedback requesting a Father-Son event, Philadelphia Country Club decided to host their first annual Father-Son Campout as summer winded down and the temperatures cooled off. The campout was held on the golf course and consisted of 18 campers. Fathers and Sons worked together to set up camp and then enjoyed numerous fun filled activities such as:
Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag
Cornhole
Projected Movie
Campfire & Smore's
The evening was followed with breakfast at the clubhouse, where campers shared stories with each other and the staff!
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
From a preparation standpoint, male management staff was needed to stay overnight on course with the attendees to provide appropriate security and supervision. Also, campers were required to be at least seven years old and must be accompanied by an adult (father). Overall, members enjoyed the new event that provided a Father-Son experience and the PCC Team is looking forward to hosting the second annual Father-Son Campout in 2019!
