First Friday Cocktails

How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?

Every month on the first Friday we host a themed cocktail night for the membership. Most of the month’s themes correlate with the societal events going on such as 4th of July, Oktoberfest, etc. However, some months we have the freedom to get creative and bring new experiences to the membership such as raft night or the lawn campfire. These events are casual in attire and atmosphere, hosted around our main Riverhouse bar with surrounding high tops and open air porches overlooking the Shrewsbury River. Food offerings vary from live stations to hors d’oeuvres to limited menu, but there are always specialty themed cocktails created by our beverage manager to enjoy.

How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?

The membership absolutely loves FFCs as it is an event they can count on occurring monthly without the big to do of getting dressed to the nines or being out all night. We have a high number of “regulars” to these events and we love when members bring their friends to share in the fun! One of the highest attended FFCs is our January Guest Bartender where past presidents have 30 minute time slots where they are the bartender to the membership serving a specialty cocktail of their choosing. The best part about these events is the theme is completely chosen by our House Committee which allows for a true reflection of the membership wants resulting in great turn out and participation each month.
