Idea Fair
Fitness to Fairways
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Farmington’s new five-week program, Fitness to Fairways, bridges the gap between physical fitness and golf performance. The program uses biomechanics to identify a member’s golf weakness, then assigns exercises to strengthen muscles and enhance range of motion. Upon completion of the course, members improve their form and add more power to their golf swing. The program allows the fitness team to work in tandem with Farmington’s golf professionals in providing members with a year-round fitness and golf plan.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
The program was offered during the club’s seasonal downtime for golf (January and February) and was led in tandem by Farmington’s director of fitness and one of its head golf professionals. The classes were held in the club’s group exercise room and utilized TPI analysis along with a variety of exercises and stretches. The program quickly sold out and members were provided with an interactive coaching app so they could continue developing their skills throughout the season.
