Idea Fair
Focus on Training
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, CA has prioritized their employee training with a strong new focus on club culture and hospitality. The Club has created two new positions as a continuation of their commitment to providing the best private club experience possible. The positions of Training Manager and Assistant Director of Food & Beverage – Training, are quickly having an impact and are being well received by both Members and staff.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
Melanie Stacklie, a twenty-year employee of the Club, has been promoted to the newly created Training Manager position at the Club. In her new position she will lead a comprehensive orientation for every new hire and will develop training programs for all team members. She will also be assisting all departments with making continuous improvements through training and re-training.
Karen So has been hired as an Assistant Director of Food & Beverage - Training where she will focus on food & beverage training. Karen will be working with the food & beverage team to ensure they are expertly trained on products, menus, service standards and hospitality.
By having the new team members complete an orientation that includes a focus on the Club and culture, it has helped them to understand the level of hospitality expected in a private club and to “hit the ground running”. Members have already started commenting on how the new team members seem like they are seasoned members of the NBCC team.
