Food Labels
How has this idea enhanced your club's operation, etc.?
Over time, members have become more focused on health and wellness, which has led to them becoming more particular about the food they eat. We noticed an uptick in the number of members requesting dietary information from their servers. In order to provide our members with quick access to this information, standard dietary symbols were created. These symbols are placed on each food label in our buffet restaurant and at Club events. The labels allow members to quickly identify whether an item contains specific ingredients.
How was this idea implemented, and what have been the club members' reactions?
First, standard dietary symbols were created along with a key. Next, we developed a food item identification process, so that staff could properly track and approve dietary symbols. Lastly, the approved symbols were placed on each food label.
Members appreciate the labels and are better able to protect themselves against serious dietary concerns, such as a gluten or nut allergy. Members are able to adjust their eating habits to support their health and wellness goals. Sugar-free, Gluten-free and Vegan modifiers are the most popular symbols sought out by our membership.
